About The Chevrolet Traverse
The perfect blend of interior space, power, efficiency, and maneuverability — the Chevrolet Traverse manages to pack a lot of interior space into a midsize platform. Add a smooth ride and active noise canceling, and the interior of the Traverse is a wonderful and serene place to be. A standard 2.5-liter turbocharged engine provides above-average power for the segment and a sophisticated 8-speed automatic transmission helps to deliver great fuel economy. Available with both 7- and 8-seat configurations, full leather upholstery, and a high-end Bose® stereofor a truly upscale experience. All-wheel drive is available across all trims for enhanced control and the Traverse is able to satisfy the vast majority of towing needs. A redesign for 2024 introduced the Z71, an off-road-focused trim with standard all-wheel drive and a slew of off-road equipment. For those more interested in on-road performance there is the Traverse RS featuring race-inspired design cues.
What the Critics Say
“The Chevrolet Traverse has long been a solid pick for shoppers wanting a spacious crossover SUV for both gear and people. Now that it’s taken a huge step forward with the modern technology that many buyers desire.” — Edmunds
“One aspect we’re especially impressed by is the number of safety features. For example, blind-spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera system are both standard, whereas they might easily be optional in rival vehicles. An assisted parking system is also available. Chevrolet can consider the new Traverse a job well done.” — Kelley Blue Book
What’s New for 2025
For 2025, Chevrolet has made some changes to trims and equipment. There are new wheel options, up to 22 inches, and the Trailering Package is now standard on the LT. But the biggest news is that the popular High Country trim is back, while the much less popular LS trim has been dropped from the lineup.
Chevrolet Traverse Features

Spacious And Versatile Interior
Finding a three-row SUV that fits adults in the back row is difficult, especially difficult in the midsize segment, but the Chevrolet Traverse shows that it’s possible. And that it’s even possible to do well, as the spacious and quiet interior feels comfortable and open. There is a total of 97.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front row of seats (with the second and third rows folded down) and the available power 60/40 split-folding third-row bench seat makes it easy to switch between hauling people and hauling cargo. The available 2-panel power sunroof fills the interior with natural light, always a good thing for a larger interior. A heated steering wheel and heated front-row seats are all standard and heated second-row seats are available. The 10-speaker Bose® premium stereo is standard on most trims and delivers concert-like sound quality. But if you prefer quiet, active noise cancellation is available.

Capable Performance
While a lot of midsize SUVs will offer an underpowered engine as a base power plant, the Chevrolet Traverse skips over this by making the 2.5-liter turbocharged power plant standard across all trim levels. That means the 328 horsepower this engine produces makes even the base form of the Traverse one of the most powerful in its segment. Every trim of the Traverse is available with all-wheel drive while it comes standard on the off-road-focused Z71 trim. The maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds, more than a lot of midsize pickups, with an available heavy-duty cooling system to keep your engine from overheating under a heavy load. Selectable drive modes include a trailering mode and the advanced 8-speed automatic transmission changes gears smoothly while helping to deliver excellent fuel economy.

Advanced Technology
Thanks to the built-in Google-powered infotainment system, you’ll have a powerful and responsive infotainment system at your fingertips in the Chevrolet Traverse. The large 17.7-inch screen makes it easy to see the view from the HD Surround Vision backup camera as well as the Hitch Guidance to help you connect a trailer. Wireless phone charging also comes standard on almost every trim. Since the Traverse is popular as a family vehicle, good safety tech is important so things like Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with traction control, and a Following Distance Indicator all come standard. Standard adaptive cruise control can cut down on driver fatigue and the IntelliBeam auto high beams help make sure that visibility is always optimal.
