What the Critics Say
“The Chevrolet Colorado is one of the best midsize pickups on sale. It stands out with its strong towing capability, easy-to-use controls, helpful technology features and appealing value. Trims such as the specialized ZR2 are also quite capable off-road. The latest Colorado raises the bar in the midsize truck segment in a big way.” – Edmunds
“The Colorado ZR2’s biggest engineering headline-grabber is its Multimatic spool-valve shocks, which deliver off-road compliance and on-road ride quality second to none. Even lesser models on standard twin-tube shocks generally ride and handle better than the outgoing Ranger and Tacoma, the Frontier, and especially the all-live-axle Jeep Gladiator.” – MotorTrend
What’s New for 2024
After a significant redesign just last year, the proven Chevrolet Colorado returns for 2024 with just a handful of small updates. Last year’s mid-level engine output option has been discontinued, leaving just two engine options for the Colorado. Perhaps the most notable change is the arrival of the race-inspired Colorado ZR2 Bison off-road variant. ZR2 Bison models are built in partnership with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) and feature upgraded tires, suspension components, underbody protection, and much more.
Chevrolet Colorado Features
Class-Leading Capability
The Chevrolet Colorado is an impressive truck with remarkable power, towing, and off-road capabilities that previously required you to spend a lot more on a full-size truck to take advantage of. Power comes from a large 2.7-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque in standard form on WT and LT trims. Move up to the top ZR2 trim to experience 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than most V6-equipped pickup trucks produce, regardless of which segment they’re in. Max towing comes in at 7,700 pounds which handily beats every other midsize truck in its class. Two trims are now available that are dedicated to off-roading, the Trail Boss and the ZR2. The ZR2 comes especially well-equipped with 10.7 inches of ground clearance, thanks in part to the 33-inch off-road tires. It also has locking differentials, Multimatic spool valve dampers, and an available winch by COMEUP.
Comfortable Interior
A lot of capability is great, but being comfortable while you tow or head offroad is a big part of the experience too. The Chevrolet Colorado comes with a standard crew cab that provides comfortable seating for five with seats upholstered in your choice of cloth, Evotex, or perforated leather. The available 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and dual-zone climate control mean that you can set everything just how you like it. Although you can always get a little extra help with this from the available heated seats and heated steering wheel offered inside the Colorado. The large 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is easy to see and use while an available Bose® premium audio system makes all of your music sound great. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is included as standard, allowing you to enjoy all of your favorite apps and media on the way to your destination.
Advanced Technology
A big part of what makes the Colorado so capable is that Chevrolet has loaded it with the newest and best in tech. In fact, the Off-Road Performance Display makes it easy to see just how much this tech helps as it lets you monitor altitude, 3D pitch and roll, g-forces, and more right from the cabin. 10 different available camera views including underbody cameras make it easy to see where you’re going and avoid obstacles on even the toughest terrain. There are five available drive modes to help with this and advanced 4-wheel drive is standard on most trims and available on the rest. For towing, there is an in-vehicle towing app that gives you features like trailer light sequencing, maintenance reminders, trailer mileage, and diagnostics along with an integrated trailer brake controller. Advanced safety and driver’s aids are available too like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind zone steering assist.
