About The Chevrolet Colorado

Completely redesigned for 2023, the Chevrolet Colorado gives you the capability of a full-size pickup in a midsize package. Offering more power than the competition, even in base form, and best-in-class towing, the redesigned Colorado literally redefines what a mid-size truck can do. There are two dedicated offroad trims, a Work Truck trim, and the Z71, with an emphasis on creature comforts and style. You can have the available Autotrac® 2-speed transfer case with push button controls, and the automatic locking rear differential is standard on the Trail Boss and Z71 trims. There is an available 11-inch customizable digital gauge cluster, and a large 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen comes standard. There is even an available sunroof, with this generation of the Colorado being the first to offer one.

What the Critics Say

“We like the Colorado a lot. The crew-cab cabin is spacious, and the tech interface is straightforward and effective. Compared to the Honda Ridgeline, Jeep Gladiator and Toyota Tacoma, the Colorado occupies a nice middle ground. It’s a well-rounded truck, providing a little bit of something for everyone and compromising very little along the way.” – Edmunds

“Efficient powerful performance; quiet refined interior; smart truck technology. Whether you’re working or playing the Chevrolet Colorado has everything you want in a truck—and the advanced features you expect from a Chevrolet. Choose from five trims starting with the venerable WT and moving up to the dominating ZR2.” – J.D. Power

What’s New for 2023

The Colorado received a total redesign for 2023, ushering in the truck’s third generation. All configurations are now offered with a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which Chevrolet offers in three different states of tune, instead of offering three different engines as they did with the previous generation. With the engine change comes more power, especially in the torque department. The base trim offers more power than the base outgoing engine, and the ZR2 in particular gets 155 lb-ft more torque than the outgoing V6. Towing capacity is, unsurprisingly, improved, and the new Colorado is the segment leader here. The cab is redesigned too, with more tech, more comfort, and better looks. Extensive available LED lighting throughout makes for better visibility and a better-looking truck.

Chevrolet Colorado Features

Chevrolet Colorado

Class-Leading Capability

The Chevrolet Colorado is an impressive truck, with power, towing, and offroad ability that previously required you to spend a lot more on a full-size truck to have. Power comes from a large 2.7-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque in standard form on the WT and LT trims. Optional on the WT and LT, or standard on the Trail Boss and Z71 is 310 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Move up to the top ZR2 trim and you get that same 310 horsepower, but now with 430 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than most V6-equipped pickup trucks produce, regardless of which segment they’re in. Max towing comes in at 7,700 pounds, which handily beats every other midsize truck on the market. Two trims are now available that are dedicated to offroading, The Trail Boss and the ZR2. The ZR2 comes especially well-equipped, with 10.7 inches of ground clearance, thanks in part to the 33-inch offroad tires. It also has locking differentials, Multimatic spool valve dampers, and an available winch by COMEUP.

Chevrolet Colorado Interior

Comfortable Interior

A lot of capability is great, but being comfortable while you tow or head offroad is a big part of the experience too. The Colorado comes with a standard crew cab, and that means comfortable seating for five, with seats upholstered in your choice of cloth, Evotex, or perforated leather. The available 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and dual-zone climate control mean that you can set everything just how you like it. Although you can always get a little extra help with this from the available heated seats and heated steering wheel. The large 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is easy to see and use, and an available Bose® premium audio system makes all of your music sound great. Wireless Apple CarPlay/Wireless Android Auto compatibility comes standard, and wireless charging to go with it is available.

Chevrolet Colorado Off-Road Performance Display

Advanced Technology

A big part of what makes the Colorado so capable is that Chevrolet has loaded it with the newest and best in tech. In fact, the Off-Road Performance Display makes it easy to see just how much this tech helps, as it lets you monitor altitude, 3D pitch and roll, g-forces, and more right from the cabin. 10 different available camera views, including underbody cameras, make it easy to see where you’re going and avoid obstacles on even the toughest terrain. There are five available drive modes to help with this, and advanced 4-wheel drive is standard on most trims and available on the rest. For towing, there is an in-vehicle towing app that gives you features like trailer light sequencing, maintenance reminders, trailer mileage, and diagnostics. And to go with this is an integrated trailer brake controller. Advanced safety and driver’s aides are available too, like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind zone steering assist.
